Delta employees honor victims at Orlando vigil

Delta Airline employees from Delta´s Employee Equality Network (DEEN) and Latin American Hispanic Employee Network (LAHEN) joined members of the Orlando community and additional supporters for a candlelight vigil on June 19 night to honor the victims of the June 12 attack, the company said.

More than 80 Delta employees were among the 50,000 attendees who gathered on the banks of Lake Eola near downtown Orlando the names of each victim were recited. DEEN and LAHEN members also held up signs that read, “Estamos con Orlando” (We are Orlando) to further emphasize their support.

In support of the aftermath of the Orlando tragedy, The Delta Air Lines Foundation will donate USD100,000 to The Better Together Fund through the Central Florida Foundation. The Better Together Fund supports nonprofits that are assisting the victims and their families as well as the affected communities including the LGBT and Hispanic communities.

The Delta Air Lines Foundation is a nonprofit corporation formed in 1968 to enhance Delta´s charitable giving. The Foundation is focused on the key areas of health and wellness, arts and culture, education and diversity.
