Delta Air Lines conducts maiden voyage of A220-100

Airbus has announced the A220-100 for Delta Air Lines has conducted its maiden voyage from Quebec´s Mirabel Airport, the company said.

The flight, crewed by program test pilots, took place on October 6 and lasted two hours and 53 minutes.

Airbus said the aircraft is now in Delta´s livery and will continue with pre-delivery testing and assembly. Delta´s first A220 is scheduled to begin service in early 2019.

Delta will be the first US airline to operate the A220-100 and has placed firm orders for 75 of the aircraft. The airline plans to use the A220-100 to replace its fleet of MD88s.
