Coriant, Agile Networks demonstrate SDN technology

Coriant and Agile Networks has announced successful demonstration of rapid service activation and automated traffic optimization using multi-layer Software Defined Networking (SDN) technology, the company said.

The field trial was conducted on The Agile Network in Ohio using the Coriant Transcendâ„¢ SDN Packet Controller, which enables more dynamic and efficient mode of operations in IP/MPLS networks while reducing network costs and complexity.

Leveraging standards-based interfaces (RESTCONF/YANG) for seamless interoperability, the live field trial included demonstration of automated service provisioning (Ethernet, IP VPN) via a web-based service portal and context-aware routing capabilities that enhance multi-layer traffic engineering and optimization.

The Agile Network in Ohio brings together the best in fiber optic and wireless technologies and is powered by the Coriant® 8600 Smart Router Series and Coriant® 8000 Intelligent Network Manager (INM).
