CommutAir has begun commercial service with its inaugural flight on the ERJ-145XR jet from Washington, DC to Columbia, SC, the company said.
The company said the flight represents the culmination of months of effort by its team that has been developing the processes and programs for launching the ERJ-145XR jets. ”
CommutAir expects the addition of forty jets to the fleet to drive an accelerated need for pilot hiring and promotions at its Dulles and Newark bases.
CommutAir, operating as United Express, is majority owned by Champlain Enterprises Inc., an airline holding company founded in the 1980s. CommutAir operates a large fleet of Bombardier Q200/Q300 aircraft with more than 650 weekly flights to 29 airports.
