CommutAir appoints chief technology officer

CommutAir has named Radha Iyer as its new chief technology officer, as the airline mobilizes to accommodate its planned capacity growth, the company said.

Radha joins the team from United Airlines, where she was the director of operations automation and innovation, responsible for key technology-enabled business initiatives in the areas of airport operations, network operations, cargo, and united express.

The airline said it plans to add 40 Embraer ERJ145 jets to its 21 turboprop Q200/300 aircraft over the next two years, representing a 450 percent capacity growth.

CommutAir, operating as United Express, was founded in 1989 and is majority owned by Champlain Enterprises Inc. CommutAir operates more than 900 weekly flights to 30 destinations, with Bombardier Q200/300 and Embraer ERJ145 aircrafts, from bases in Newark, NJ and Washington Dulles.
