Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) and Southwest Airlines have announced that on September 12, 2018, they welcomed 15 World War II and 83 Korean War veterans to Midway International Airport for the sixth and final Honor Flight Chicago (HFC) flight of the season, the companies said.
With the season´s final honor flight, Honor Flight Chicago (HFC) will have hosted 591 veterans in 2018. The 2019 Honor Flight Chicago season will begin next April.
The organization, established in 2008, provides an opportunity to recognize the bravery, determination and patriotism of America´s senior war veterans with an all-expense-paid, one-of-a-kind journey to Washington, D.C.
Now in its 11th season, the early morning flight from Midway was preceded by coffee and breakfast for the veterans, who were also treated with songs by Sweet Reminder, an Andrews Sisters tribute group.
