Boeing wins USD 805m contract to build next aerial tanker drone for US Navy

The Pentagon has announced it has awarded a USD 805 million contract to Boeing (NYSE: BA) to build the Navy´s first four carrier-based unmanned aerial refueling tankers, the company said.

The MQ-25 Stingray drone tankers will launch from a ship and refuel Navy fighter jets in midair.

The first four Stingrays are slated for delivery by August 2024.

Per the contract, the defense giant will “provide the design, development, fabrication, test, verification, certification, delivery, and support of four MQ-25A unmanned air vehicles, including integration into the carrier air wing to provide an initial operational capability to the Navy.”
