Airlines Reporting Corp. (ARC), the premier driver of air travel intelligence and commerce in the travel industry, has reported the average US roundtrip ticket price* for May 2017 was USD 506, up from USD 501 in April, the company said.
Average ticket prices are up approximately USD 5 from May 2016.
The consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold by US-based travel agencies increased nearly 7 percent in May as compared to 2016, totaling USD 8.3 billion vs. USD 7.8 billion. The number of passenger trips* settled by ARC for US travel agencies also increased approximately 7 percent to 24,210,200 compared to nearly 22,721,000 in May 2016.
Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD) sales comprised nearly USD 7.4 million, a 121 percent increase over 2016. EMD transactions increased 167 percent to nearly 128,200 in May 2017 vs. nearly 48,000 in 2016.
