American Airlines gifts USD200K to Green Door Behavioral Health

American Airlines said it has gifted Green Door Behavioral Health with a year-end contribution of USD200,000 in honor of Will Ris, a longtime Green Door board member who is retiring this month after 20 years as head of American´s Washington DC office.

Green Door Behavioral Health is a community-based non-profit that serves more than 1800 DC residents living with persistent mental illness and complications related to substance use disorders. More than 90 percent of Green Door´s clients live at or below the poverty line.

“American Airlines´ generous gift in honor of Will Ris is a testament to his service to Green Door Behavioral Health and to the larger DC community as a whole,” said Dr. Richard Bebout, CEO of Green Door Behavioral Health. “And while Will is retiring from American Airlines we´re thrilled that he will continue to serve on the Green Door board.”

Ris has been a Green Door board member since 1995 and has served in many roles, including chair of the board. This year he is co-chairing the annual Remarkable Journeys Gala on May 18, which celebrates Green Door´s 40th Anniversary.

Green Door Behavioral Health is a community-based non-profit that serves DC´s most vulnerable residents living with potentially life-threatening chronic health issues.
