American Airlines cuts program benefits

American Airlines has decreased its mileage benefits rewards for its AAdvantage loyalty program, the company said.

The company said it has switched to a revenue-based program resulting in a reduction in mileage accrual for AAdvantage customers using the airline´s partner carriers which brings it more in line with its peers in the industry.

AAdvantage Executive Platinum members will receive 11 miles for every dollar spent. Platinum members will earn eight miles per dollar and gold members will earn seven miles.

American Airlines is a Dallas-based airline and is part of the Oneworld alliance, which includes more than a dozen carriers including British Airways and Air Berlin.
