American Airlines has announced its congratulations to Capt. Chesley (Sully) Sullenberger for his 2018 Tony Jannus award, the company said.
American said Capt. Sullenberger and his crew saved the lives of the 150 passengers onboard the US Air aircraft that water landed in the Hudson nearly 10 years ago.
Given annually by the Tony Jannus Distinguished Aviation Society, the Tony Jannus Award recognizes outstanding contributions to the growth and improvement of commercial aviation. The award is named for the pilot of the first scheduled commercial flight on New Year´s Day in 1914 between St. Petersburg and Tampa.
American Airlines and American Eagle offer an average of nearly 6,700 flights per day to nearly 350 destinations in more than 50 countries.
