Alaska Airlines has launched new nonstop flight service between Portland, Oregon and Newark, New Jersey, the company said.
Earlier this year, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved Alaska´s request to operate four additional daily flights to Newark. New service between San Diego and Newark starts later in November 2016, while new service between Newark and San Jose, California and a third daily flight between Newark and Seattle begin in spring 2017.
Alaska said it is operating the new flights with fuel-efficient, next generation Boeing 737 aircraft.
Alaska Airlines, together with its regional partners, flies 32 million customers a year to more than 110 cities with an average of 970 daily flights throughout the United States, Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico and soon Cuba.
