IATA has announced the financial outlook for the global air transport industry indicates airlines are expected to lose USD 84.3 billion this year, the company said.
IATA said revenues are expected to fall 50% to USD 419 billion from USD 838 billion in 2019, with 2021 losses expected to be cut to USD 15.8bn as revenues increase to USD 598bn.
On average, every day of this year will add USD 230 million to industry losses. In total that´s a loss of USD 84.3 billion, IATA said.
Based on an estimate of 2.2 billion passengers this year — airlines will lose USD 7.54 per passenger.
