Airline increases traffic by 4.8%

WestJet Airlines Ltd (WJA: CN) May 2017 traffic results showed a load factor of 80.6 percent, second highest for May in WestJet´s 21-year history, the company said.

Revenue passenger miles (RPMs), or traffic, increased 4.8 percent year-over-year, and capacity, measured in available seat miles (ASMs), grew 5.9 percent over the same period. The airline flew a record 2.0 million guests in May, a year-over-year increase of 8.2 percent or approximately 147,000 additional guests.

In May, WestJet announced it had again been named Canada´s most trusted airline by the Gustavson Brand Trust Index instituted by the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business at the University of Victoria. The airline was also named one of Canada´s top ten most trusted brands. The results are based on more than 6,500 Canadian consumer responses to a survey on 294 Canadian brands.
