Airline caterer LSG Sky Chefs to make 450 New Zealand staff redundant

Stuff has reported LSG Sky Chef, an airline catering company, has announced it will cut 450 staff that are redundant across its New Zealand business due to the impact of Covid-19, the news source said said.

The global aviation company said as a result of the economic impact of the pandemic, 450 positions will be made redundant at LSG Sky Chefs facilities in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown.

Air New Zealand is an LSG Sky Chefs customer. It had been producing about 25,000 meals per year to 16 customers, including Air New Zealand.

Sky Chef was delivering more than 560 million meals a year from 205 airports in 53 countries.
