Air ticket sales increased 4% last month

Airlines Reporting Corp. (ARC), the premier driver of air travel intelligence and commerce in the travel industry, has reported the average US roundtrip ticket price* for July 2017 was USD 473, down from USD 503 in June. Average ticket prices are down 3.2 percent compared to July 2016, the company said.

The consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold by US-based travel agencies increased nearly 4.1 percent in July as compared to July 2016, totaling USD 6.9 billion vs. USD 6.7 billion. The number of passenger trips* settled by ARC for US travel agencies also increased 5.3 percent to 21,605,280 compared to 20,518,412 in July 2016.

Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD)** sales comprised nearly USD 4.9 million, a 66 percent increase over 2016. EMD transactions increased 64 percent to 86,981 in July 2017 vs. nearly 53,054 in 2016.
