Air ticket sales down 1.13% YoY

Airlines Reporting Corp. (ARC) said that the consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold by US-based travel agencies decreased 1.13 percent in the first eight months of 2015, compared to the same period in 2014, totaling USD62.4 billion vs. USD63.1 billion.

August 2015 ticket sales decreased 1.86 percent to USD6.9 billion against the same month last year.

Ticket transactions increased by 5.46 percent in 2015 vs. 2014 to 107.2 million. Passenger segments increased 0.78 percent to 2.24 billion, compared to 2.23 billion in 2014.

Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD) sales comprised USD10.1 million of the total sales from January to August 2015 vs. USD1.4 million over the same period in 2014 and USD1.7 million of the August 2015 sales compared to USD432,014 in August 2014. EMD transactions increased to 95,383 in 2015 versus 27,884 in 2014.
