Air Methods provides December medical and tourism transport volumes

Air Methods Corporation (AIRM) has reported preliminary patient transport and tourism passenger data for the month of December 2016, the company said.

Medical transports numbered 5,142 in December 2016 compared to 4,735 in December 2015, a YOY increase of 8.6%. For Q416, 17,571 transports were completed compared to 15,817 for 4Q15, an 11.1% increase YOY.

Tourism passengers numbered 30,149 for December 2016 compared to 32,256 in December 2015, a decrease of 6.5% YOY. For 4Q16 was 101,623 compared to 103,261 for 4Q15, a 1.6% YOY decrease.

Aaron Todd, CEO of Air Methods, believes the reduction in tourism volumes is due to both Sundance and Blue Hawaiian helicopter operations being negatively impacted by weather during the month of December.

Air Methods Corporation´s Air Medical Services Division provides air medical transport services in the United States. The United Rotorcraft Division specializes in the design and manufacture of aeromedical and aerospace technology. The Tourism Division is comprised of Sundance Helicopters, Inc. and Blue Hawaiian Helicopters, which provide helicopter tours and charter flights in the Las Vegas/Grand Canyon region and Hawaii, respectively. Air Methods´ fleet of owned, leased or maintained aircraft features approximately 500 helicopters and fixed wing aircraft.
