AeroVironment’s electric vehicle charging systems to be installed at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport

Technology solutions provider AeroVironment Inc (NASDAQ:AVAV) has won a contract worth up to USD8.8m to supply multi-port charging systems to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, the company announced today.

This new contract, awarded by the Port of Seattle, covers AeroVironment’s PosiCharge electric Ground Support Equipment (eGSE) fast charge systems.

According to AeroVironment its PosiCharge system improves the productivity of ground support equipment and personnel by charging vehicles quickly and safely and provides for common use among different airlines, ground handlers, service vehicles and battery types.

PosiCharge systems for electric-powered GSE vehicles have already been installed at major international airports across the US, including Boston Logan, Charlotte, Chicago O’Hare, Dallas Fort Worth, Dulles, George Bush, John F Kennedy, La Guardia, Los Angeles, Miami, Newark, Philadelphia and San Francisco. In addition, PosiCharge systems keep eGSE vehicles running at Bob Hope airport in Burbank, California, the first in the United States to convert to an “all-electric” GSE fleet model.

Further afield, international airports with PosiCharge systems include Bogota, Brisbane, Christchurch, Dubai, Hong Kong, Macau, Melbourne, Mexico City, Santiago and Toronto.
