Airlines for America (A4A) has issued a statement on the COVID-19 suggesting that to combat the economic downfall, it recommends a combination of programs to provide assistance to the US airline industry and protect their employees, the organization said.
The organization said US airlines are in continuous conversations with the Administration, Congress and labor unions in an effort to secure financial assistance from the federal government to protect and preserve the 750,000 jobs of hardworking men and women who are directly employed by US airlines, as well the 10 million jobs supported by the airline industry. This includes pilots, flight attendants, mechanics, gate agents, ticket agents, parking attendants and many more. Our employees are truly the backbone of the US airline industry and our greatest resource, and US carriers are doing everything in their power to protect their livelihood.
A4A advocates on behalf of the leading US airlines, both passenger and cargo carriers. A4A works collaboratively with industry stakeholders, federal agencies, the Administration, Congress, labor and other groups to improve aviation for the traveling and shipping public.
