A4A calls on Congress to reject proposed tax hikes on air travel

Airlines for America (A4A) has urged Congress to reject proposed air travel tax hikes, which are included in the President´s FY2021 budget request, the organization said.

The suggested tax hikes would cost passengers an additional USD 2.7 billion per year on top of the USD 26 billion they paid in 2019. Increasing taxes in any form would burden families with higher costs to fly, curtail job growth and limit air service options to small and rural communities.

US aviation and its customers are already subject to 17 federal aviation taxes and fees.

Airlines for America (A4A) is the industry trade organization for the leading US airlines that advocates on behalf of the American airline industry. A4A works collaboratively with the airlines, labor, Congress, the Administration and other groups to improve aviation for the traveling and shipping public.
